New Work

Well. I've tried to stay busy. I've finished the rough draft of a new script, Head Games. The read-through will be in the next few weeks at the latest. I need to hear it out loud; see what works and what doesn't.

Anyway. I'm looking forward to it. Woot. It's what's next.

The second weekend brought in a bigger audience than the first. This may not seem remarkable, but considering how small the advertising budget was (some nice fliers and word of mouth); this was outstanding.

Next week, we're having a meeting w/ a producer about re-staging the show. I can't wait.

Things are coming along quite nicely; and I'm grateful not only for the hard work of those involved but also the sheer luck in the mix to deliver us even this far. It's a blessing.

I'll be sure to post any updates as timing permits. Yes sir, one very good weekend...

The First Weekend

We did well this weekend. We did very, very well. Ticket sales were sufficient to break even and then some; if we continue our momentum (and no reason we can't, with the right advertising and word of mouth) this show might even make a buck.

The Saturday crowd was lively; and one of my favorite monologues of the bunch (which must remain a mystery to preserve the joke) got the kind of reaction that I knew it could earn. The actor came on stage and opened his mouth. Once he established who he was; the audience didn't stop laughing for half a minute at least. That's what it felt like, anyway. It was beautiful.

Making a deposit at the bank on Monday; receipts to turn in, coffers to refill. And then next weekend we get to do it all over again.

That's a very good feeling.

Good News

Well, another development-- We have a blurb in this week's Time Out New York! Just a small ad for the show in the Off-Off Broadway section. Still. Time Out New York. Sweet.

My thanks to Robin for her connections; once again proving it's not what you know, but who.

Tonight is our last dress rehearsal. The show is in great shape. Can't wait for the opener.

Our Premiere

Our maiden voyage, so to speak, will be opening in two weeks' time. I couldn't be more excited.

The Yellow Brick Monologues is a play over a year in the making; the writing alone took that long. We are well under way with a superb cast in place, along with the help of Assistant Director Christopher Booth, Stage Manager Amy Von Vett, and ASM Robin Fusco.
